Margaret's siblings were George Shackelford, b. 1774, d. 1840 Onslow, NC; Lucy Marie, b. 1775, m. Abner Pyles; Frances, 1776, m. John Landrum; Capt. Richard Francis, Jr., b. 1777, d. 1867 in Smith Co, TX; Sarah, b. 1779, m. Isaac Mitchell; and James P. Shackelford, b. 5 Nov. 1780, m Mary Ann Roberts and had a large family including son Calvin Shackelford. When his wife died, he married again Jan 12, 1820, and had more children. He died after 1830, Henderson Co, TN.
Major Cook and Margaret ("Peggy") had a family of seven: Isaac, Mary Ann, Elizabeth, Margaret, Clayton, Emily, and John. After Major Cook's death in 1822, Margaret married James Harrison March 1, 1824. Left a widow again, she married John Hathcock Sept. 22, 1826. He had emigrated from Elbert Co, NC, in 1816. He was a captain in the Madison County Militia and was proprietor of the Buckhorn Tavern near New Market. His plantation was situated on the Hurricane Fork of Indian Creek.
